This is a partner course forHarrogate Jobcentre.

The course aims to educate and empower individuals working and volunteering in the food industry. It not only focuses on enhancing food safety knowledge and skills but also underscores the importance of supporting those in food poverty. The course aims to equip participants with the essential tools to maintain the highest food safety standards while contributing to initiatives that alleviate food poverty and promote community well-being.


Open Entry Requirements


This is a partner course forHarrogate Jobcentre.

To be eligible for funding for courses you must be over 19 years of age as at 31st August 2025.

Further eligibility may be linked to where you live and we will check that at enrolment stage and may contact you for further information or refer you to alternative provision.

A notepad and pen/ pencil may be helpful to take notes during the session.

This course is aimed at learners currently working, or looking to work or volunteer in the food industry, including roles in food preparation, service, and management. It is also relevant for those interested in expanding their knowledge of food safety and engaging in initiatives aimed at supporting people experiencing food poverty.

Open Progression


You will have the opportunity to meet with one of our team who will be able to offer advice on the variety of learning opportunities. You will have the opportunity to complete a gateway and employability qualification as progression from this course

  • English, maths and computing courses (up to level 1) are FREE subject to eligibility (adult learners aged 19+ at 31st August 2025)
  • Reduced course fees for non-qualification courses if you receive a qualifying benefit.
  • Qualification courses at Level 2 or below are FREE if your income is below £25,750
  • Discretionary Learner Support funding relating to cover fees, books etc (qualifications only) T&C apply.
  • Pay for your course in instalments via direct debit (over £100), ask for details.
  • 19+ Advanced Learner Loans for Level 3 courses and above – no repayments until you earn over £25,000
