Ready to build confidence in today’s digital world? Understanding Digital Communication is a friendly, practical 2 week course designed to help you communicate safely and effectively online. Through hands-on activities, you’ll learn how to send and manage emails, use WhatsApp to stay connected with friends and family, and understand the basics of social media messaging. Whether you’re completely new to digital tools or want to grow your everyday skills, this course will give you the confidence to communicate clearly and independently.

During the course you will be given helpful step-by-step guidance from our specialist teacher.

To be eligible for a free funded course you must be over 19 years of age as of 31st August 2025. Further eligibility may be linked to where you live, and we will check that at enrolment stage; we may contact you for further information or refer you to alternative provision.

You may wish to have a notepad and pen for taking notes and a folder to store notes and handouts. You can bring your own device as well if you like.

Your teacher will give verbal and written feedback throughout the course.

Throughout your time learning with us, you will also have developed a whole range of skills that can be transferred from your course to a working environment, your home life or your own personal development.
Skills such as time management, organisation, research skills, networking and presenting ideas are all part of your learning journey along with decision making, problem solving and overcoming obstacles. All these skills will help you to become a confident, self-motivated person and will assist you on your chosen pathway.

You will be able to develop your digital skills further by taking additional courses. For example, you may like to learn more about using Digital Skills and Microsoft Office applications, such as Word and Spreadsheets, or about online safety and cybersecurity. You may even be interested in our accredited courses such as Digital functional skills and Level 1 Cybersecurity. Your teacher will discuss progression options with you.

You may like to bring a drink with you to have away from the computer and electrical equipment.
