Research shows that learning throughout adulthood and into later life encourages important social interaction, gives a sense of hope and purpose and helps cope with stress, all of which has a positive impact on maintaining and improving our mental health and wellbeing.
This course will provide an opportunity to explore the history and meaning behind English words, phrases and local place names. Discover the true meanings and origins of idioms such as ‘cat got your tongue’ to reveal some fascinating facts.
During the course you will:

• Discuss the meaning behind local place names
• Look at the history of language how it has changed
This course is delivered for 12 hours in 6 weekly sessions.
