Course Content

Recent findings from the Office for National Statistics (ONS) have shown that worker productivity has continued to steadily rise since 1959. However, there is more that businesses can do to maximise this productivity and minimise losses due to lost working days and other types of waste in a business environment. This course will equip learners with a detailed understanding of the lean management system and how to implement business improvement techniques and employ effective teamwork in a business. This course is ideal for learners who wish to increase their awareness and understanding of the lean management system and the features of a lean environment.

This course is split into three manageable units:
• Unit 1: Learn organisation techniques in business
• Unit 2: Business improvement techniques
• Unit 3: Effective teamwork in business.

Our ‘Distance’ courses allow you to learn remotely without attending lessons in a classroom, which means you can study at your own pace, in your own home at a time that suits you with the freedom to revisit areas of the course as little or as much as you like. You will have the support of a specialist teacher who will mentor you during the course.

Open Entry Requirements


You must be over 19 years of age as of 31st August 2023 and not be an apprentice, further eligibility may be linked to where you live, and we will check that at the enrolment stage. We may contact you for further information or refer you to an alternative provision. You must have a good basic understanding of English, Maths and IT. You will be asked to complete a short assessment prior to this course starting to ensure it is right for you.

Open What Will I Need?


This course will be completed online; you will need access to a laptop or tablet with regular access to the internet and an email account. You will receive a login for our learning platform where your resources will be stored, this will allow you to access them whenever you choose to study.

Open Assessment Methods


You will be allocated a specialist teacher who will support you with your learning. Support will be offered to you remotely via Microsoft Teams or email. You will receive regular developmental feedback from your teacher. Your assessments will be completed online and then reviewed by your teacher and our quality team.

Open What Will I Achieve?


Once all units have been completed and assessed, you will achieve a Level 2 Certificate in Lean Organisation Management Techniques.

  • From April 2023, some Level 3 courses will be available for FREE to adults who are unemployed or earning below the National Living Wage annually (£20,319), even if you already have a Level 3 qualification or higher.
